Whimsy Wednesday ~ Summer Rules

Hey there my lovely blog pals, I'm back with another Whimsy Wednesday creation and I'm sharing a fun card I created to say thank you to my aunty & uncle and cousins for some Summer happiness they provided my kiddos while we were up North over our Summer break. It's the first time my kiddos have been 'sea-biscuiting' and they had such a blast! You can check out the pics of that fun, on this previous post. I knew I had this wee guy in my stash and I think he's kinda perfect for a Summer thank you card.

I've coloured this awesome Whimsy Stamps image by Krista Heij-Barber called Summer Fun with my copics and don't you just love the lightning bolt on the glasses? (Totally stole the idea from the cover photo on the stamp! LOL But I love how it worked out.) I used copic reds R27, R24, R22 & R20 to colour crabby and the sentiment too. I fussy cut the image and mounted it with an action wobble onto the background paper.

I used my Caribbean Seas Kaleidacolor ink pad to stamp this fabulous Impression Obsession 6x6 'Cover.A.Card' background stamp, then edged the panel with Cracked Pistachio Oxide Ink. I used a lovely green shimmer cardstock for the base card, which I created as a top folding card.

Next I added a panel of sand coloured cardstock which I diecut with the hilltop die of the Stitched Border Die Trio from Whimsy Stamps and to finish the beachy look of the card, I added some real sand and three seashells from our local beach. (Yep, I live in a city surrounded by beaches!)

I love the sentiment that came with the stamp, it was so perfect after the Summer fun we'd had so I coloured it in alternating shades of red and diecut it with a Whimsy Stamps Hand Stitched Nested Rectangles die. All that remains now, is to show you the lil' guy in action. So take a peek at the video below for the 'Action Wobble' fun.

I'm off now to watch a Valentine's night movie with the hubby (on the couch! That's about as exciting as our Valentine's get! LOL) So I'll catch you all again soon and wish you happy Valentines and happy crafting! Hugs xoxo

Fab 'n' Funky ~ Babies

Hey there lovely blogging pals. I'm here again with a DT creation for Fab 'n' Funky, for our latest challenge. It's such a lovely (and let's face it - easy) theme today! We'd love to see your creations for babies, children or MEN! Hehe, love how the fellas got lumped in with the little ones, seems somehow poetic (or is that too cheeky?!) My lovely DT sis Chris is our wonderful hostess for this challenge. Head on over to her blog to check out her awesome inspiration for this challenge. Here's mine.

I have to confess, when I think of making a baby card, I always think of Lili of the Valley babies. I do use other images too, but I often find myself coming back to their stunning baby images. This darling image is called All Our Dreams and I believe it's out of stock now in the rubber stamps, but yippee, did you see Lili of the Valley are now doing digital stamps too? You can find this darling image there in their Digital Babies section.

The pretty pink paper I used is from an 8x8 First Edition paper pad called Summer Breeze, which I think worked perfectly with the warm brown/kraft tones of the other paper. I love this colour combo. I coloured that sweet babe with my Promarkers this time.

The rest of the team have some awesome inspiration for you over on the challenge blog, so be sure to stop by there and check it out. Do come and join our fun challenge this week too if you can, there's something for everyone in this theme don't you think?! I'm having my own private party today, as I've been designing for Fab 'n' Funky for 4 years now as of Feb 5th! They say time flies when you're having fun, and it sure does! A shout out to our awesome blog mama Judith, for creating a really fun and stress free DT environment for our awesome team. We have such fun themes and challenges, I love being part of Team Funky. If you're curious to see my first post for Fab 'n' Funky, all those years back, you can find it here. I hope you'll come and join in our fun this challenge and I'll be back really soon with my next DT creation. Hugs, Wends xoxo

Sweet Stampin' ~ Girly

Hey there lovelies, it's time for a new challenge at Sweet Stampin' and we've a lovely theme for you this week. We want to see your 'girly' makes. I created this card for my lovely Welsh pal back in London and I was so pleased with all the elements as they came together. I think it's well girly!

The image is a gorgeous retro image from A Day For Daisies called 40's View and I've paper pieced her headscarf with a pale blue plaid paper and added shading on top with my Promarkers. I used a pretty oyster coloured shimmery card stock to mat the layers and a fabulous embossing folder with a very Charles Rennie Mackintosh feel. Wrong era if she's a 1940's chick, but I thought there was something very 1920's about her actually. So I thought the Art Deco design of the embossing folder was a lovely fit.

I used a small Go Kreate die for the sentiment and mat and added a tiny diecut feather to finish. The sentiment is from Magnolia.

Short and sweet tonight, as I need to go and hang up my wee niece's washing. For those that missed that news, we've had the first of our two eagerly anticipated births in our extended family. My sweet niece arrived 5 weeks early! All's well with mum and bub, but she's very teeny and sleepy. So lots of extra TLC right now in hospital before they let them all go home. (Daddy is staying in too, to help) She's absolutely adorable and I'm totally besotted!

Pop on by the Sweet Stampin' blog to check out what the rest of my awesomely talented teamies have been up to. It's such a lovely theme this week, so I hope you'll come and play along with us. Remember there must be some stamping to be eligible for the Top 3 though. I'll be back again soon, I'm off for some baby cuddles. Hugs and happy crafting until next time, Wends xoxo

As You Like It: Stitching, Real/Faux? I LOVE stitching in cards, especially real stitching, but I've very little patience for doing the stitching myself, so I utterly LOVE stitched dies and I used them LOADS! I can't doodle, so drawing on the stitches is not my thing. Definitely a stitched dies fan.

Whimsy Wednesday ~ Key To My Heart

Hey there lovelies, I hope your week is going well. I'm here today to share with you a fun shaker card I created to celebrate that wonderful day of 'love' that my hubby likes to dis' so much! Seriously, he's so NOT into Valentine's Day, he actually wrote me a song about it! Hehe, I'd be mad if it wasn't actually kinda sweet! But I'm a romantic at heart, and whether he wants to celebrate that special day, when everyone else in the world is focusing on love (that can't be a bad thing right?!) or not, I'm always going to do my thing. Which of course is to create the sweetest soppiest card I can, right?!

This year, I had a little help from a lovely older set of Whimsy Stamps sentiments called 'Key To My Heart'. I think it's perfect for a mushie heartfelt Valentine card. I have the matching dies from that same release, so I diecut the key in cardstock and generously embossed it with Silver embossing powder. A simple but perfect embellishment for this card I think.

I created a shaker card by layering up foam behind an oval aperture. I cut a frame from white cardstock using two different sizes of oval dies and the fabulous paper inside the frame is the gorgeous digital paper from last months digital release set called Love In Red

There are several utterly perfect paper sets in last months release for Valentine's Card creating. I also used these fun shaker elements from Whimsy Stamps Valentine Sequin Assortment. They're on special right now, so grab a pack while you can!

I did pick out the pink sequins and save those for another creation. I added instead some shiny flat back pearls for a bit of shine in the mix. There's a very satisfying swish as the sequins shake about. I created a side opening card this time around. As I had some pre-scored card that fit perfectly.

I know my hubby will groan when I give this to him on Valentine's Day but secretly, he loves it really! For those of you who are curious about the song her wrote for me. You can have a listen here.

Come on over and see what the rest of the Whimsy Digital Divas have been up to on our Facebook page. There's loads of inspiration flowing in a constant stream over there, so it's a great place to visit for that little bit of inspiration boost!

Do head on over to the Whimsy Store to see the current new release goodies too and I'll be back next Wednesday for another Whimsy Wednesday Inspiration post. Hugs to you all and happy crafting xoxo

Whimsy New Digital Release ~ Day 3 ~ Bella Ballerina

Hey there lovelies. I'm here to share my second design team creation with you for our latest release at Whimsy Stamps. There are so many gorgeous new items, both in the digital collection and clear and rubber stamps and stencils collection. There's a fabulous addition to the range this time around too, of DoveArt Studio Designs beautiful images. Plus one of my all time favourite stamp artists is now with Whimsy Stamps and there are several of her utterly enchanting images already available in store. I just LOVE Marina Fedotova's beautiful wistful fairies. Seriously beautiful. The digital designs are utterly fabulous too, with the inclusion of a super cute set of Tomte! If you don't know what a Tomte is, head over to my previous post and have a peek at my card and my Tomte collection. But for now, let me introduce you to Ballerina Bella. Isn't she adorable?!

All good Ballerina's know how to pirouette right?! So I decided to create a card with the fabulous Whimsy Stamps 'Slip & Slide' moveable elements die. I used the spiral element, so she moves around like a pirouetting ballerina! Perfect I think and such fun too.

I used a gorgeous plaid digital paper from the new release set called Gingham Mix. I think the colours in this gorgeous plaid paper are perfect for this sweet ballerina. I decided to colour her ballet shoes and tutu white, (shades of cool copic greys to achieve this) and I added lots of sparkle. The ballet shoes her hair bow and the top tier of the tutu have Wink of Stella on them for subtle sparkle, but I added a layer of loose glitter to the fru fru layers at the bottom of the tutu for extra dimension and bling. I think she truly is the cutest little dancing penguin!

With all that sparkle, I thought the 'Sparkle' diecut sentiment from the Christmas release set was just perfect to finish this card! I wanted the edges to have a bit of interest too, so I also used the Whimsy Stitched Border Die straight stitched line to create the stitched edge on the card.

I kept the card design very simple, as I didn't want her to catch on any embellies when she is spinning around. So it's CAS and sweet today. I hope to get a video done when the rain stops to show her spinning, but right now it's pouring and the light indoors isn't fab. So I'll update soon.

I hope you'll swing by the Whimsy Stamps Inspirations page on Facebook and check out the rest of the awesome creations my teamies are showcasing. They really are an insanely talented lot! Click the banner above, if you'd like to head straight to the Whimsy Store to check out this gorgeous latest release. I hope you've enjoyed seeing my creation today and I'll be back again soon with another inspiration post. Until then, have a gorgeous weekend and happy crafting. My hubby has taken our big girl on a daddy/daughter date to the Foo Fighters tonight! So I'll be hearing all about their fun in a couple of hours. Hugs xoxo

Whimsy New Digital Release ~ Day 1

Welcome to our New Release Week! Today is the first of the New Digital Releases and there are some really fun ones this month. One set in particular I have a huge soft spot for, as I have a 'thing' for Tomtenisse. It's all my Swedish besties fault! LOL. I totally fell in love with these wee characters when we first visited our pals over Christmas in Sweden. They were everywhere and they utterly stole my heart. So I have quite a lovely collection of Tomtenisse and have been spoilt with a couple of new ones the last two Christmas' from my pal. So you can imagine my joy, when I saw that Tracy had created a fabulous and fun stamp set with these sweet Tomtenisse!

As it's not Christmas and 'Tomtenisse are not just for Christmas' you know, I have gone for an earthy tone for this make. So I've used the most delish Kraft & Lace paper also created by our talented Tracy. The Swedish tales tell of little farm 'helpers' that care for the livestock and help the farmers. They're depicted often in earthy tones and greens. But of course, when Christmas rolls around, they are Santa's helpers too. A more modern take on their 'lore', but I do so love the Christmas Tomte, so I'll be sure to colour this up in Christmas colours too!

I've coloured this Tomte in neutral tones with my copic markers. I also used copics to add the blue sky background. He's just so cute! I need to colour him again in Christmas tones.

I used a really sweet die and stamp set from Whimsy that I've had for absolutely years! But it's still a fantastic little set and perfect for adding more customised greetings. I stamped the sentiment in Memento Desert Sand ink, which is a lighter brown, for a softer finish. I really do find I come back again and again to my Whimsy Stamps & Dies, they're just timeless designs.

I added a little additional pop of red with a sweet paper toadstool and two little red sweetheart cherry blossom blooms from Wild Orchid Crafts. I love that extra little splash of red on this card, just the splash of extra colour I think it needed.

Head on over to the Whimsy Stamps Store to check out all the fabulous New Digital Releases and fill your boots! Instant download is such a satisfying thing! I love being able to craft as soon as it's downloaded. Check out the rest of the amazing creations that will be popping up on the Whimsy Stamps Inspiration Facebook Page.

The rest of the Digi Design Divas have been hard at work crafting inspiration for you. I'll be back again tomorrow with my second creation for the New Release. Hugs and happy crafting xoxo

Finally, three of my favourite Tomte. The little one with the fawn coloured hat was a gift from my Swedish bestie and the one with the stripy hat, I bought with her in Malmö. The one with the dark red felt hat my hubby bought for me at Copenhagen airport. He's lush and has a real sheep wool beard and wool felt hat. Not cheap, but worth every penny! Fab 'n' Funky ~ Christmas

Hey there my lovely crafty pals. I hope your week has been shaping up well. My baby girl started highschool on Tuesday this week. I can't believe she's at high-school! Where have the years gone?! I'll post a pic of her at the end in her new school gears, it's a lovely uniform. We're kicking off our first 'Christmas' challenge of the year at Fab 'n' Funky and I've got a backlog of Christmas cards I've never posted, so I had no excuse not to join in this week!!

I used a rather gorgeous Vintage image I purchased a while back. It looks straight from an old postcard doesn't it?! I love the jolly happy face of this sweet Santa and it was such a doddle to craft with. No colouring, a few distressed edges and layers and hey presto, Christmas card done.

I used a Lil' Inkers Silly Stitched Die for the red mat. The white borders were cut with an older Martha Stewart Doily Lace Border Punch, the lovely Doily Star Die is from Marianne Design and the white enamel coated metal corner is of course an old Live & Love Crafts corner. I'm still sobbing that Sandy closed her store. One of my all time favourite places to shop!

The lovely tartan paper is from an 8x8 set by Craftwork Cards called Traditional Tartans. I bought my paper pad from Joanna Sheen. I love that she offers free postage the world over if you spend over 9 GBP. That's never difficult for me to do and it has saved me so much in postage! I love buying all my staples and the odd treat too from her. Really fast and lovely service too.

I wonder if you've already started Christmas crafting? Maybe like me, you haven't stopped! I find it's the only way to ensure I have enough cards come Christmas, so I love these opportunities during the year to add to my stash. I hope you'll come and join us with your Christmas crafting and I'll be back tomorrow with my Whimsy post, which is of course delayed a day this week, because it's New Release week! So I'll be giving you a taste of what's being launched this week in the digital section of the Whimsy Store. I'll be doing two launch posts, so do pop back for those. Hugs to you all and have an awesome week. Wends xoxo
